
Hiroshima, October 2025 — Researchers from Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), represented by Assoc. Prof. Evania Yafie, Dr. Riska Pristiani and Fatiya Rosyida, M.Pd, conducted a research collaboration visit to Hiroshima University, Japan. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Asakura Takamichi, whose hospitality contributed greatly to the smooth and productive implementation of the collaborative activities.
The agenda included a presentation of the SMART-PTC research with Assoc. Prof. Asakura Takamichi. The research project, led by Assoc. Prof. Evania Yafie as the principal investigator, is funded by the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM) under the Indonesian Ministry of Education specially Kemdiktisaintek. The visit continued with in-depth discussions on potential collaborations, both between researchers and across departments and institutions.
The collaboration opportunities we discussed included future collaborative research, lecturer teams, student mobility, and journal offerings. The discussion involved Assoc. Prof. Asakura Takamichi, Assistant Professor Pratiwi Tri Utami, And Assistant Professor Mousumi Manjuma Akhtar.
In addition, the UM researchers were invited on a guided campus tour of Hiroshima University, accompanied by Professor Yoshida Kazuhiro, Assoc. Prof. Asakura Takamichi, Assistant Professor Pratiwi Tri Utami, Nissa Aulia Belistiana Utami, Ph.D (C) and Francis Hikaru Oba, Ph.D (C). The tour provided valuable insights and broadened their perspectives regarding the development of International academic collaborations, particularly in inbound-outbound mobility programs that have already been successfully implemented at UM.

In addition to discussions about current research—we explored future research themes that bridge our expertise and cultural diversity. The hospitality and openness of Hiroshima University have inspired us to strengthen academic collaboration that is long-term and impactful,” said Assoc. Prof. Evania Yafie.
Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Evania Yafie expressed her appreciation and enthusiasm for the joint initiative. “Collaborating with Hiroshima University opens up new horizons for us to integrate research, teaching innovation, and cultural understanding,” she said. “Through this partnership, we aim not only to produce academic outputs but also to build a meaningful exchange of ideas that supports global education transformation.
We hope this collaboration will continue sustainably and evolve into broader academic and community programs.” The meeting concluded with optimism and mutual commitment to continuing this partnership. The atmosphere of laughter, shared ideas, and mutual respect reflected a genuine spirit of cooperation between Universitas Negeri Malang and Hiroshima University, paving the way for future research and innovation that transcend borders.
