Brief Profile
The Faculty of Education is the oldest faculty and the institutional cornerstone of Universitas Negeri Malang. Its history dates back to 1954, when it was established as the Teacher Education College of Malang (Perguruan Tinggi Pendidikan Guru/PTPG Malang). It later became part of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Airlangga, and subsequently formed the core of the Institute of Teacher Training and Education (IKIP) Malang in 1963. Since 1999, the Faculty of Education has been formally recognized as one of the leading faculties at Universitas Negeri Malang. Organizationally, the Faculty comprises several departments: the Department of Guidance and Counseling, the Department of Educational Technology, the Department of Educational Management, the Department of Nonformal Education, the Department of Elementary and Preschool Teacher Education, the Department of Special Education, and the Department of Early Childhood Education.

The Faculty of Letters at Universitas Negeri Malang (FS UM) is an academic unit focused on the development of education, research, and community service in the fields of language, literature, art, and design, with a commitment to producing graduates who are faithful, knowledgeable, creative, and responsible. Rooted in the establishment of the Department of Indonesian and English Language in 1954, the Faculty of Letters (FS UM) has continuously developed and now oversees various study programs from diploma to doctoral levels across five main departments. Through its 2022–2026 Strategic Plan, FS UM aims to enhance the quality of its graduates, lecturers, curriculum, governance, and financial performance to become a leading and benchmark faculty at both national and international levels.

Brief Profile
FMIPA UM originated from the Department of Natural Sciences at PTPG Malang, which was established on October 18, 1954, with 28 students. As it evolved, this institution transformed from PTPG to become part of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Airlangga University, then became IKIP Malang in 1963. In 1981, FKIE changed to FPMIPA with four main departments: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. In 1999, IKIP Malang became Universitas Negeri Malang, and FPMIPA was renamed FMIPA. Currently, FMIPA offers 25 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs managed across six departments.

Brief Profile
The Faculty of Economics and Business UM developed from the Department of Business World Education (PDU), which was a combination of General Economics and Business Education. In 1996, PDU was transformed into the Department of Economic Education with four concentrations: Cooperatives, Accounting, Commerce, and Office Administration. Following the change of IKIP Malang to Universitas Negeri Malang in 1999, non-educational study programs such as Management, Accounting, and Marketing Management were opened. FEB UM continues to grow with the addition of undergraduate, D-III, and postgraduate programs, as well as organizational strengthening as one of the main faculties within UM.

Brief Profile
The Faculty of Engineering UM was first established on September 1, 1965, under the name Faculty of Technical Teacher Training (FKT). As UM developed, FKT transformed into the Faculty of Vocational Technology Education (FPTK) in 1981 and became the Faculty of Engineering (FT) in 1999. Today, the Faculty of Engineering continues to advance and grow with the slogan "Engineers of Change Shaping the Future."

The Faculty of Social Sciences (FIS) was re-established on August 17, 2009, based on the Rector of Universitas Negeri Malang Decree No. 047/KEP/H32/OT/2009. Previously, FIS was known as the Faculty of Education for Social Sciences (FPIPS), which housed several departments such as Economic Education, History, Geography, and Pancasila and Civic Education. In response to the need for social science development, several departments, including Law and Citizenship, Geography, and History, were reintegrated into the Faculty of Social Sciences. Currently, FIS manages study programs covering undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels in various fields of social sciences.

The Faculty of Psychology at UM has one department, the Department of Psychology, with four study programs: Undergraduate (S1), Professional Psychologist, Master's (S2), and Doctorate (S3) in Educational Psychology. The Faculty of Vocational Studies at UM originated from diploma programs that have existed since 1997 and were previously spread across several faculties. In 2022, all D3 programs were upgraded to D4 or Applied Bachelor's degrees in accordance with national policy. The Faculty of Vocational Studies at UM was officially established on February 28, 2023, by rector's decree. This faculty integrates 11 D4 study programs to produce applied graduates who are job-ready and globally competitive.

The Doctoral Education Program at IKIP Malang (now Universitas Negeri Malang) was pioneered in 1968 through the Sarjana Purna Program in collaboration with the Ford Foundation. In 1976, this program evolved into the Doctoral Education Study Program (PSPD). The first doctoral lectures began on February 1, 1976, and have since expanded into various fields. Since 1980, the postgraduate program has also included master's (S2) level. Institutionally, the program transformed into the Postgraduate and Doctoral Program (1982), the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies (1983), and since 1990, it has been known as the Postgraduate Program (PPs).

SIPEJAR (Learning Management System) at Universitas Negeri Malang is a platform based on LMS Moodle that integrates curriculum, academic systems, and SPADA for online and blended learning. This platform facilitates discussions, assignments, quizzes, and attendance, and its use is mandatory for at least 30% of total meetings. SIPEJAR is directly connected to SIAKAD UM.
