Malang – State University of Malang (UM) continues to optimize preparations for the implementation of the Computer-Based Independent Test (TMBK) 2026 as part of its efforts to provide a quality, transparent, and integrity-driven new student admission process. UM’s Director of Education, Prof. Evi Eliyanah, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., revealed that various aspects of the organization have been thoroughly prepared since the implementation of the National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT), ranging from system readiness, computer laboratories, technicians, to exam supervisors.
According to Prof. Evi, coordination with organizing partners in various regions has been ongoing for the past two months. These preparations include assigning supervisors, preparing technical personnel, providing supporting facilities and infrastructure, and conducting a series of system trials to ensure all stages of the examination run smoothly, orderly, and in accordance with established standards.
This year, the UM TMBK will be held in six cities across Indonesia. The examinations in Jakarta, Balikpapan, and Bandung are scheduled for June 6–7, 2026, followed by Medan, Yogyakarta, and Lombok on June 8–9, 2026. Meanwhile, the TMBK at the UM campus will take place on June 12–13, 2026.
As a commitment to providing the best service for participants, UM has prepared 67 computer laboratory rooms spread across various faculties and work units. In addition, all examination locations, both on and off campus, will implement uniform operational standards, covering administrative aspects, technical execution, and handling mechanisms should any indication of violations be found during the examination.
To maintain the credibility of the selection process, UM is also strengthening its exam security system with various technological updates. Furthermore, the question randomization system has been made more diverse to minimize the possibility of participants receiving the same set of questions as other participants nearby.
“We have strengthened the browser used so that participants cannot open other applications during the exam. In addition, the question randomization system has been made more varied so that adjacent participants do not receive the same questions or question order,” said Prof. Evi when interviewed by the UM Public Relations Team on Tuesday (June 2).
She also urged participants who are declared eligible through the independent pathway to immediately re-register according to the established schedule. According to her, re-registration is a form of commitment and responsibility of prospective students towards their chosen education.
Not only prioritizing technological aspects, UM also applies security standards that refer to the implementation of the Computer-Based Writing Test (UTBK). Each participant will undergo identity verification and a security check before entering the examination room. The university emphasizes that it will not tolerate any form of violation or fraudulent practice that could undermine the principle of fairness in the selection process.
UM also ensures that the TMBK 2026 implementation is inclusive. Participants with disabilities at all locations will receive assistance and facilities tailored to their individual needs, enabling them to take the exam comfortably and optimally.
Through these various steps, UM reaffirms its commitment to providing a broader, more transparent, and equitable new student admission system. Support in the form of strengthened security systems, inclusive service provision, and opportunities for increasing independent pathway quotas are part of the university’s efforts to expand public access to quality higher education.
