Poor. 16 Lecturers of the State University of Malang (UM) are included in the 500 best Indonesian researchers version Science Technology Index (SINTA) announced by the Ministry of Research and Technology of the National Research and Innovation Agency (Kemristek-BRIN) on May 28, 2020. The 16 names of UM lecturers in question are Ahmad Taufiq, Siti Zubaidah, Aji Prasetya Wibawa, Sunaryono, Nandang Mufti, AN Affandi , Sumarmi, Markus Diantoro, Herawati Susilo, RR. Poppy Puspitasari, Duran Corebima Aloysius, Punaji Setyosari, Toto Nusantara, Susriyati Mahanal, Nurul Hidayat and Abdur Rahman As'ari.

The ranking of the performance of Indonesian researchers based on SINTA this year is carried out using a researcher performance appraisal formula that takes into account indicators, namely the number of journal / non-journal articles indexed in Scopus, the number of citations in Scopus, the number of citations in Googleschoolar and Sinta journals 1-6 in full calculation of the last 3 years. This ranking is expected to encourage the improvement of the performance of research publications that are increasingly of higher quality.

This achievement has been pursued since 2016 as explained by Markus Diantoro as the head of LP2M UM "There are two ways to be taken, namely forming a Publication Acceleration Team (TPP) which has been carried out since 2019 to become one of the centers in LP2M and UM issued a policy to provide research funds which are coordinated at LP2M. In addition, the Academic Publication Center (Publika) has also formed the International Journal and Conference Acceleration Team (TPJK), and the Academic Plagiarism Prevention and Management Team (TP3A). The basic idea is that the number of researches increases, the output in the form of quality publications increases, ”he explained.

Ahmad Taufik continued, who got the highest rank in UM, explained his strategy through collaboration with research colleagues both at home and abroad, "The main collaboration with fellow colleagues at UM, both within one KBK and outside the KBK, even with colleagues across study programs and faculties. . Always involve students in our research, whether independently funded, PNBP UM, Kemenristekdikti, or abroad, including sending and accompanying students to conduct research abroad which we routinely do every year. Above all, we must do the culture of reading various latest research reports every day so as to add references in conducting research which in turn improves the quality and quantity of reputable international publications. Especially for students, we are required to write articles that are published internationally as their first name as a condition for passing their studies and also as the names of members, including in patents. Of course what we must do is always ask Allah for convenience in conducting research and publications. " he said.
