Poor. In the framework of the Chinese New Year celebration, the Mandarin Language Center (PBM) State University of Malang (UM) held a drama competition with the theme 'Chinese fairy tales'. The competition which was held on Saturday (1/2) at Sasana Budaya UM was attended by participants from various universities in East Java. This competition was held as a form of PBM participation in celebrating the 2020 Chinese New Year.

The event was opened with the performance of the Barongsai Dewa Sakti from the Eng An Kiong Temple and the performance of the Genjring Traditional Dance by students of the Faculty of Letters. Then proceed with remarks from several leaders present. Among them are the Head of the German Literature Department, Dr. Edy Hidayat, S.Pd, M.Hum, Director of the Indonesian Mandari Center Evi Eliyanah SS MA. And the Director of the Chinese Language Center Liao Guirong.

In his speech, the Director of the Indonesian Mandari Language Center, Evi Eliyanah SS, MA conveyed several things.

"Every year PBM always tries to hold a festive event to celebrate the Chinese New Year. But in 2020, in the midst of our excitement, we also have sadness over what is happening in China there. Let's pray and encourage them. So that they will be given happiness like we are here. " he said.

Furthermore, Evi Eliyanah also emphasized that this Chinese New Year celebration is important for all of us, Indonesian citizens. The Chinese New Year celebration itself is important for Indonesian society and for reinterpreting Indonesia as a nation that values diversity. It is hoped that with this Chinese New Year celebration we can appreciate the diversity even more.

Dr. Edy Hidayat, S.Pd, M.Hum as the Head of the German Literature Department also expressed his joy at this event and hopefully by holding this competition our students will get a lot of lessons.

In addition to the drama competition activity which is the main event. This activity was also enlivened by various performances. Such as traditional Chinese dance by students of the Faculty of Letters, Fasion show and angpao lottery for the guests who attended. When filling in attendance, guests will receive a lottery number from the committee. Later the number will be drawn and whoever is lucky will get a blessing in the form of red packets.
