The Covid-19 pandemic emergency response efforts in Indonesia have encouraged universities and academicians to use the online exam method as a substitute for face-to-face exams that have been temporarily eliminated to prevent the spread of Covid-19. This is a follow-up to the central government's appeal to prevent the spread of Covid-19 by carrying out physical distancing, one of which is through an online exam.

State University of Malang (UM) has implemented an online system of Final Semester Examination (UAS) on (4-8 / 5). In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, implementing online UAS is a solution so that MUs can still carry out exams. The first UM students did the UAS online using several media such as Google Classroom, Meet, Whatsapp, Schology, and Sipejar in accordance with the policies of each lecturer.

Implementation of UAS online reaps a culture change from the usual exam. Lecturers must be able to prepare media and connectivity that supports UAS. One of the systems accepted by students in UAS is in the form of giving questions to the application determined by the lecturer by collecting it according to the set time limit.

In terms of effectiveness, the implementation of online UAS is certainly ineffective due to the lack of transparency and systematics which are still not overtaken when there is network disruption. However, UM's strategic steps in supporting breaking the chain of Covid-19 spread have been carried out in accordance with health protocols. UM is one of the universities that has successfully implemented online UAS collectively.

Physics Education S1 student, Jauhar Rosanah, revealed that the implementation of UAS in the midst of the current pandemic must prepare extra health. "In addition to mastery of the test material, maintaining physical and mental health and ensuring the condition of the internet to remain smooth during the UAS is the main indicator in UAS preparation in the middle of the current pandemic," he said.

Rosa hopes that to avoid cheating, lecturers can carry out quiz-based exams with applications quizizz or any other quiz app. This is because the quiz-based exam will provide random questions to users and is accompanied by a time limit that can help control student assignment collection.
