State University of Malang (UM) has entered its 65th year that it is already "mature" enough to become a university that starts to grow and leads to globalization in welcoming the 4.0 industrial revolution. This year, State University of Malang is celebrating its 65th anniversary or better known as "Lustrum XIII" starting from the founding of UM (IKIP Malang) on 18 October 1954. The commemoration of UM's XIII and 65th Anniversary of 2019 is not only become a routine annual ceremonial event only, but it is expected to be the initial milestone for the projected development of MUs towards world class university forward.

In line with the series of activities that will be carried out in the commemoration of Lustrum XIII and 65th Anniversary, the theme of Lustrum XIII UM is "Keep the Tradition, Bernas Innovation, Bounce Achievements". The deep meaning of this theme is that UM has had a long glorious history since its inception which started from IKIP Malang and transformed into a new higher education institution, namely the State University of Malang since 1999. Efforts to maintain the glorious tradition of IKIP Malang-UM are fundamental points. for the UM academic community as an effort to maintain the spirit of UM (IKIP Malang first). Furthermore, through this Lustrum XIII 2019 activity, MUs also need to continue to maintain a positive track record for the results of innovation, inventions, and other novelty things as evidence that MUs have innovative superior innovation in the hope that these will all become hallmarks for MUs to further boost their achievements in national and international academic scene.

The objectives of UM XIII's lustrum activities in 2019 are for introspection and reflection, academic friendship between UM academic community and external parties, UM forum to express performance achievements to the public, and capture the aspirations of external parties to improve UM's dharma, performance, and work for the betterment of the nation, country, and humanity. In welcoming the UM 2019 lustrum XIII activities, several activities will be carried out starting from May 2 to October 18, 2019. The UM 2019 Lustrum XIII activities will be divided into 3 parts which include academic, non-academic, and launching UM branding.

Academic activities include scientific oration by inviting external speakers at a series of XIII lustrum ceremonies on October 18 2018, internal and external learning universities, congratulations to new professors and doctors and students with national and international achievements. Non-academic activities will be held starting from May 2, 2019 (UM mascot design and batik design competitions), sports competitions (UM tahes walking, mass yoga, UM mania riding, badminton, table tennis, and tennis competitions), seminars, talk shows, cultural art exhibitions, fashion shows, ceramic workshops, calligraphy competitions, photography competitions, and the 2019 UM Lustrum XIII celebratory night. As a complement to the 2019 UM Lustrum XIII activities, the UM branding team will carry out UM's laucnhing branding which includes brand color , guideline institutional logo and brand name logo, Font-um sans.ttf, Grid system layout, Imagery style, etc.

Hopefully the entire academic community of UM, through the Lustrum XIII 2019 activities will be a common foundation to further advance UM in the future as proof that Malang State University is one of the higher education institutions in Indonesia that is able to make a real contribution to the progress of the Indonesian nation in facing the era of industrialization and globalization. May Allah SWT provide His help and pleasure so that UM is able to grow and develop according to the theme of lustrum XIII, UM will continue to maintain its traditions, always produce its innovations, and will continue to soar in the current millennial era civilization scene.
